Sean 'Diddy' Combs returns to court, seeking bail and citing 'horrific' conditions in New York City jail.

Music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, who was arrested in New York City on Monday, faces a three-count indictment related to sex crimes allegedly committed since 2008.

On Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, Combs appeared in a New York courtroom as his legal team continued to push for bail, citing "horrific" conditions in New York's Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC). His lawyers argued that Combs, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, should not remain in pre-trial custody.

Combs' arrest came after a grand jury indicted him on three felony charges connected to years of alleged sexual abuse. Despite an earlier judge's denial of bail, his attorneys are appealing the decision, arguing that Combs’ willingness to surrender to authorities demonstrates he poses no flight risk. They emphasized that his self-surrender should be considered by the court in his favor.

In their appeal, Combs' defense also highlighted the dangerous conditions at the MDC in Brooklyn, citing instances of violence and suicide as evidence the facility is unfit for pre-trial detention. Defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo addressed these concerns in a letter to U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky, calling for his client’s release on bail.
