PlayStation Network Down: Major Outage Affects Players, Sony Responds
A major outage is affecting Sony's PlayStation Network, impacting consoles from PS4 to PS3. Sony confirmed the issue on its website and is working to fix it, advising users of potential difficulties with games and apps.
The PlayStation Network has gone offline, leaving players unable to connect. The outage has lasted for hours, and due to the online reliance of modern consoles, many users are unable to access games, apps, or multiplayer features.
According to PlayStation's service status page, the outage affects all consoles, including the PS5, PS4, PS3, and PS Vita. "You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features," the latest update reads. "We're working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience."
Sony has not provided a timeline for restoring services, and at the time of writing, the network had been down for over six hours.
The outage followed an update that added large ads to the home screens of some users. While this sparked concerns that PlayStation was increasing in-console advertising, Sony clarified that the issue was caused by a bug. "A tech error with the Official News feature on the PS5 console has since been resolved," PlayStation's official account stated. "There have been no changes to the way game news is displayed on PS5."
The downtime also coincided with the recent launch of EA FC 25, one of the year's most anticipated PlayStation titles.
